Daniel Ciment, Attorney, and Founder of the Texas Consumer Protection Firm, Ciment Law Firm, PLLC, announces the addition of paralegal and legal professional Ivan Cavada to the team. Cavada, who joins the firm as an Intake Specialist, brings over two decades of experience in the legal field to his new role. The son of attorneys, as a high school student, his first job was running papers for his father, a criminal justice attorney, to various cities in South Texas, including Kingsville, San Diego, and Alice.
In the mid-1990s, Cavada went to work for his mother, a bankruptcy attorney. For 18 years, he worked as a paralegal in the consumer and small business bankruptcy firm in South Texas, which focused on volume bankruptcies. There, Cavada dealt with thousands of Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy cases, along with some Chapter 11 cases. A diligent employee, he took on just about every role in that office – from answering phones to filing to paralegal work – while preparing bankruptcies for confirmation. During his last twelve to thirteen years at the firm, Cavada did initial consultations with potential clients, handling all of the initial interviews with people who came into the office to discuss their bankruptcy options. Some days, he conducted as many as five in-person interviews while working the litigation side of bankruptcy.
After his mother sold the firm to another attorney, Cavada stayed on for another few years before venturing into his own retail business and becoming a personal trainer. However, he missed working in the legal field and began to submit resumes to Corpus Christi law firms. But it wasn’t until he met Daniel Ciment in a paralegal Facebook group that he achieved his goal of returning to the bankruptcy law area.
‘“It’s a cool story,” Cavada enthuses. “I posted a rant in the group wondering why anyone thought I couldn’t handle deadlines in the personal injury area of law when I have dealt with so many stricter deadlines and federal deadlines in bankruptcy. Daniel responded that he would have his manager call me. Next, I had a ZOOM interview with Juan Faura, sent in my resume, and became the firm’s intake specialist. I’m excited to be a part of Ciment Law Firm, PLLC, because they do so much debt defense in bankruptcy – Chapter 7 and some Chapter 13. Bankruptcy is what I know, and I look forward to helping Ciment Law PLLC’s clients with bankruptcy and debt defense.”
“We’re thrilled to have Ivan Cavada on the team,” says Daniel Ciment. “With his extensive background in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy and his authentic desire to help other people, Ciment Law Firm, PLLC will be able to serve even more clients in the Katy, Texas area to resolve their debts, protect their rights, and build their credit. We look forward to working with Ivan for many years to come.”
